Dr. Markoff Named AGD Fellow

newmarkoffpic.jpgOn August 5, 2006 Denise M. Markoff received a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. A Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) is recognized as a leader in the dental profession, and is an example to other general dentists, demonstrating the importance of continuing dental education.

The AGD Fellowship Program is one of the most rigorous continuing dental education programs today. All applicants must meet the AGD’s high standards, which include membership with the AGD for at least 3 years, passing a comprehensive written examination, and earning a minimum of 500 approved continuing dental education credits. By staying current in general dentistry, fellows are able to offer their patients the best diagnosis and treatment options dentistry has to offer. The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is a non-profit organization consisting of more than 35,000 general dentists whose primary goal is to remain educated on the latest technologies. AGD is committed to “improving the oral health of the public and supporting the efforts of the general dentist through financial support of scientific, educational and charitable initiatives.” ADG was the first dental organization to sign a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. government to help improve oral health for all Americans.

It’s Not Just About Teeth

Advanced Cardiac Training Brings a Smile to FHS

Dr. Markoff has recently completed an advanced cardiac training program that enables her to provide patients with an advanced level of medical care during a cardiac emergency. The program “The Advanced Cardiac Life Support” (ACLS) was held in Chicago in May.

ACLS is a detailed medical protocol for the provision of lifesaving cardiac care. Extensive medical knowledge and rigorous hands-on training are required to master ACLS. It is the same training received by physicians, nurses, and paramedics nationwide.

“I wanted to make sure that I’m prepared to handle any medical emergency that may arise. My patients deserve the best pre-hospital care I can give them in the event of an emergency. Their overall health and well-being are very important to me,” Dr. Markoff said.

Under One Roof

Annual Continuing Education Extravaganza

In July 2006, Chris traveled to Las Vegas to attend a 3-day action-packed continuing education event like no other in the dental hygiene profession.

RDH Under One Roof provides dental hygienists with more choices for dental continuing education such as General Sessions, Power Hour Sessions, Small Group Workshops and Hands-On Workshops all while fostering networking opportunities with colleagues from around the country.

During this year’s event, Chris attended a wide range of programs and workshops on topics ranging from Oral-Systemic Medicine and Periodontal Disease to Hypersensitivity and Tooth Erosion.  As always, her goal is to provide patients with the best care possible.  She is dedicated to staying on the cutting-edge of technology, sharpening her individual clinical skills, and enhancing her patients’ knowledge of the latest evidence-based treatments available.
